Architecture transformed into a meditative choral work
'Illuminations' is a choral work based on the architecture of the Minorite Church in Krems, and a movement based on the Ossiach Collegiate Church, both found in Austria.
Nadja Kayali, the Festival Director of 'Imago Dei' in Austria, approached me with a commission to transform the architecture into sound. As I am trained both as an architect and composer, this was a very natural process for me and I was stimulated by the request. I have always had a symbiosis of these in my mind, as I have spent years studying both simultaneously.
This album release of ‘Illuminations’ is taken from a live event in the Ossiach Collegiate Church, with the 12 voices of the Momentum Vocal Music, including the new movement based on the proportions and history of the Marian church. Simon Erasimus conducted the choir and instrumentalists including Thomas Fheodoroff (violin), Sylvie Lacroix (flute), Michael Moser (cello), Hannes Schöggl (percussion), to bring this electric work alive.
Recorded and mastered by Florian Rabl, sponsored by the ÖstMusikFonds and other partners, this work is a testament to the heritage of teamwork - music always inspires to bring us together in a very profound way. I am very thankful for this incredible release.
